Work for Survival

Offers of work and volunteering opportunities with Survival in London and San Francisco are posted here. For positions in other offices (Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris, Madrid, Milan), please see the Survival website in the relevant language.

Survival does not manage any projects overseas – we do assist some projects with tribal peoples, but these are run by the tribe itself. We do not send volunteers into the field, or sponsor any visitors other than our own staff.

Due to the large number of applications we receive, we can only respond to applicants we would like to interview in the near future. We apologize for this. If you apply for a position and do not hear from us within ten days, please assume that we will not be pursuing your application at this time. You are, however, welcome to apply for other positions as they arise.

Intern for US Media (San Francisco, unpaid)

Getting tribal peoples’ issues into the press, and media in the wider sense, is crucial to their long-term survival. This position requires candidates to have English as a maternal language, with excellent oral and written communication skills.

Based in our San Francisco office, you will help promote our work in the US. This will include working with traditional forms of press as well as contemporary social media outlets. An interest in the press and media is essential. Proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable.

Depending on your skills, you might also be working on outreach projects, conducting interviews and even doing the research necessary to produce new work specific to the US.

As well as an enthusiasm for and commitment to Survival’s work, you will be organized and have good time-management skills. The ability to work as part of a team and take pleasure in routine, as well as more challenging tasks, is important.

Applications will only be considered from candidates who have a right to live and volunteer in the US. Please specify this information in your cover letter. To apply, please send a resume and cover letter (no longer than 1 page) to tt@survivalinternational.org.

Compensation: Unpaid
Location: Survival’s San Francisco office (Dogpatch)
Time: 10am-6pm
Duration: At least 2 days per week for a minimum of 6 months (negotiable)

Volunteer (London, unpaid)

There are currently no vacancies at Survival’s London office. However, we are always interested in hearing from people with a deep understanding of tribal issues, and an absolute dedication to what the organization stands for.

If you would like to be considered for future positions, please email your CV and a covering letter to info@survivalinternational.org.

Please note that due to high levels of interest, we are unfortunately unable to respond to each individual. Thank you.
